Day 5 - Blue!

Hey everyone! Well, it's already day 5 and I'm excited about the blue nails!  I've apparently been really into blue polish as of late [I have quite a few bottles of it, more than I thought] so the hard part about today was which color to choose.

I was inspired a few days ago to re-create this manicure so I actually went out one night to Walgreens after gorging myself on nail blogs and splurged on this and a few other pretty polishes [pics forthcoming].  It's Midnight Cami by Essie and I bought it special for this day! I wanted to do that exact manicure with the glitter, stars, whole nine.  Well, cut to last night and I'm ready to get to it and realize I don't have any silver small-glitter polishes.  I can't believe it...I've purchased so much polish lately that I can't even remember what I do and don't have.  It's getting sad, folks. I do have some glitters but I didn't think they'd work so I didn't even want to try them. Anyway, I wore the Midnight Cami by itself and I love it.  This is two coats covered with the ever-present SV.
It's really a lovely deep midnight blue...worthy of its name.

Every time I take a picture of my hand like this it reminds me of THE CLAW!
[You know, that whole Liar, Liar movie w/Jim Carrey? Yeah.]
But it shows the polish beautifully.

It's so deep and dark that it almost looks black until the light hits it just right and you see it's dark blue.  Gorgeous!  And I guess that the "no glitter" thing is okay considering I've been trying to tone it down lately at work but still...I'm gonna do that mani eventually!

But, I couldn't just leave it a plain color! That's too boring for this challenge!  So while I wore the blue to work, I went stamp-crazy at home.  [As an aside, I watched that new show The New Girl on FOX while I was stamping and I have never laughed so hard.  It is so dang funny.]

Anyway, I chose a cute flower print using one of my Konad plates.  I've tried to stamp this design a few times before and it never comes out looking fully great [this time was no exception] but it did look better than my previous attempts.  What do you think?

I used Konad special white polish to stamp and covered with a top coat of SV.
Please disregard how sad the pinkie finger looks...it was the first stamp and that's always the hardest.

I never realize how dry my cuticles are until I take close-up pictures.
I used cuticle oil immediately after viewing this.  Yikes.
It does give a good close-up of the stamp on one of the better nails though.

So pretty! I love the delicate flowers...just wish they were easier to stamp.
That's it for day 5!  I hope you liked it. Tomorrow, purple! I've already got the base mani done and it looks good. Can't wait to share.  Have a great evening!
